Mayra Franco was born in Mexico City, in a country filled with colors and a diversity of cultures and traditions. She inherited from her land its characterizing colors, textures, and sensitivity; expressing her senses in different ways; taking from her experiences the feelings, sounds, and contexts, and transforming each one of them into different means of expression; transforming the abstract into the tangible.

In 1998, after searching to develop her abilities, Mayra won a complete scholarship to study her career in graphic design and photography in the International Fine Arts College, in Miami, Florida. When she finished school, she continued her training by taking courses in Europe to update and improve her technique as a photographer. Currently, Mayra lives in Germany, working as a freelancer, and doing artistic as well as commercial projects in and outside the country.

Working as a professional artist with a solid background in education makes her enjoy the adrenaline of new business projects, where creativity and imagination go beyond the clients' expectations. In 2016 she started CANELA ART STUDIO. CANELA Canela is a children's art program that accompanies them in their different stages of development.  This program is based on the power of observation promoting the ability of children to express their thoughts and ideas through different languages.

In 2023, Mayra opened her new studio THE LAB by canela,  choosing other projects to join her. She truly believes that there is not such thing as competition but team work. Adding others to her project makes Canela stronger , different , and allows her to offer everyone different possibilities in just one place.Slowly the programs will be extended starting with pregnant moms, babies , toddlers, kids, teens and adults.  CANELA LAB is the place you want to BE.
